If it will fall apart without your effort, it’s already broken. Tell yourself the truth. Some of us spend so much time trying to make things right that we stop considering if what we’re fighting for is even worth holding on to - anymore.

A crossfader is someone who mixes or blends. One who transcends. Ultimately, the crossfader archetype represents someone who challenges conventional thought, social norms and is a conscious architect of his or her own reality. Are you one? Click below to see the EPK for my upcoming film documenting Crossfaders.

A graduate of Howard University and once a member of the Grammy award winning group Arrested Development, Kemit is best known for his work with production partner (Justin Chapman aka Just One) as one half of KemeticJust.
Unaware of this, my fab friend, and the Gordon Parks of hip-hop, Shannon McCollum invited me out to hear Kemit spin. Twenty-two seconds into his set (22!), I knew absolutely all I needed to know - Kemit is DJ God - crossfader supreme. Anybody that rocks hip-hop, rock, reggae, dancehall, house and ol' school soul in one set before 160 seconds has gone by is the ultimate in my playbook. If you don't know, you mos def need to ask somebody!

Fahamu Pecou is the shit! That's his self-created campaign. Now, having had the fab opportunity to meet him in person for the filming of my Crossfaders project, I can tell you it's true. Dude is intelligent, innovative, a critical thinker and alas a provacteur.

Mr. Albert Butler, voted Urban Insite's "Sexiest Man Alive" is someone I've grown fond of since regularly guest spotting as an expert on his popular Relationship Wednesdays segment, on 900 WURD am out of Philly. For years he has tackled the daily questions that people all over the country assemble around water coolers to discuss. From politics to entertainment, community activism to sports, Al brings a fresh perspective to the events of the day. If you listen to him regularly, or you've tuned in when I've been a guest, you would know perspectives is not the only place Al's "freshness" shows up. Listen and enjoy!

What connects iconic artists and cultural figures like Madonna, Outkast, Calvin Klein, Queen Latifah, Raphael Sadiq, Goodie Mob, and Mary J. Blige together? Joi Gilliam, creator, visionary and mos def the HBIC!
When I first sat down with Joi last summer, I was excited to meet someone whose work I'd admired for so long. What followed in our one hour long conversation was a self-assured, self-actualized woman chopping it up about life, being ahead of her time, music and love. She easily navigated through what I've been told are an intimate set of questions and rocked it hard, as she always does. Take a peek.

"DJ Rich Medina lives, breathes, and revels in sharing the type of music that make a listener remember his soul. It is this awareness of soul that brings listeners back time and again to hear Rich spin: heads nod, bodies sway, emotions expand and coalesce."
Medina is what my mom would call "the truth"! I've heard Medina before in the NYC, but recently had the opportunity to hear him at the supercharged power collab between his "Jump N Funk" party and Kemit's "Spread Love" party. It was absolutely transformative in the way any 'ol church raised musician turned counselor mixed back up with music would want to be turned out . Rich provided me with something priceless that night: the ability to let it all go and be fully present in my body - minus that shakey neighborhood called our minds. Go on and save yourself with Jump N Funk!
